Junko used to be a physical chemist. Around 12 years ago, as a result of poor physical health, she found Pilates. Using the Pilates method, she managed to go from a desperate situation to a miraculous recovery. The effectiveness of Pilates method made a deep impression on her, and she immediately decided to make a career change. From that point on she began to passionately pursue Pilates.
Pouring all of her enthusiasm into Pilates, she managed to acquire qualifications from multiple Pilates organizations. In 2010, her efforts to strengthen the Pilates culture in Japan were evaluated, and she was selected from the entire fitness industry to be the recipient of the "Instructor of the Year" award. After that she continued to make trips to the U.S. several times a year to deepen her understanding of the philosophy and spirit of Pilates.
In 2013, she joined the training course run by Lolita San Miguel, and in 2014 was officially recognized as Lolita’s disciple. She also became "Lolita's Legacy" educator. From there she started the first session of the Lolita's Legacy Training Course in Japan. Currently, Junko is working at her own studio, "PILATES BODY STUDIO", instructing everyone from athletes to seniors, while passionately working on her teacher training as well. People from all over Japan interested in studying Pilates gather at her studio and pour their strength into spreading the spirit of Pilates.
She is very honored to be serving as an ambassador this time. She looks forward to deepening the ties of the Pilates community in the place where Joe was born, and getting to share the legacy that Joseph Pilates left behind.
